Smart and Simple Social Studies is a teacher membership designed for upper elementary social studies teachers. It provides engaging and comprehensive resources for 3rd-5th grade students.

Yes, all resources in the membership are standards-based. The resources primarily align to the Texas TEKS standards. The resources are organized by social studies domain and topic so that it’s easy to find and align to other states as well.

Smart and Simple Social Studies is open to upper elementary social studies teachers who are looking for high-quality resources. Whether you’re a new teacher or a seasoned educator, this membership can benefit you!

This membership was designed for upper elementary students. I highly recommend this membership for educators who teach social studies to students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. If you are not a teacher in 3rd-5th grade and decide to join the membership, you’ll have to make the necessary modifications to make the resources work for your students.

Absolutely! The Southern Teach prides itself on being a professional, researched-based, and innovative company. I have over a decade of experience teaching in the classroom and hold an M.Ed in Elementary Education. I strive to make sure that my curricula and resources are of the highest quality, based on the latest research in social studies education. You can learn more about me here.

Access for your school begins as soon as a purchase order is received. I will ask for additional information about the teachers needing access including name and school email address. From there, teachers needing access can create individual accounts in the membership platform.

Once access is granted, an invoice will be sent with the option to pay via check or online via credit card. Payment is due 30 days after invoice is sent.

If you are paying by credit card, you can make a secure payment online via Thrivecart. You’ll receive instructions to create an administrator account. I will also ask for additional information about the teachers needing access including name and school email address. From there, teachers needing access can create individual accounts in the membership platform.

Access for the 2025-2026 school year will end on June 30, 2026.

Yes! While there are resources in my membership that are also in my TPT store, there are also a host of resources that are not sold or found anywhere else. And you’ll have unlimited access to all of them as long as you are a part of the membership!

Due to the digital nature of the content and resources, I do not offer refunds.

HI, I’M KIRSTEN!

I’m a former upper elementary teacher who has taught in multiple districts in Texas. I’ve taken my 11+ years of experience along with my M.Ed in Elementary Education and applied my expertise to each resource I create. I’ve totally been there –

  • Searching all over the internet to find the right social studies resources that align with my state’s standards and weren’t too easy or boring for my students 
  • Scrambling at the last minute to come up with a lesson or activity that aligns with a current event or holiday 
  • Trying to figure out a schedule that fits social studies with all the 150 million things I had to cover before state testing

This membership is here to change that. No more fighting to fit social studies into your schedule or wasting precious time looking for activities (only to end up with bored students).
